SONOS Roam has two LED indicators, both on the front panel. One is at the top (operation or status LED), and the other is at the bottom (battery LED). During normal operation, the upper LED will be either white (connected to Wi-Fi) or blue (connected to a Bluetooth source). The bottom LED will not be visible if your SONOS Roam has enough battery or if it’s fully charged.

Each of these two LED indicators may flash orange at some point. Depending on the LED, this orange flashing light on your SONOS Roam could indicate different things.

In this post, I will list all the potential reasons why your SONOS Roam is flashing orange, and suggest some fixes to help you make the orange light go away.

Why Do I See This Flashing Orange Light on My SONOS Roam?

As explained in the introduction, depending on the LED (upper or lower LED), the flashing orange light indicates different things.

SONOS Roam Status LED Flashing Orange

If the upper LED light on your SONOS Roam is flashing orange, it could mean three things. First, it could mean that your speaker is trying to establish a connection, which is a normal thing and should not last long. It could also mean the speaker can’t communicate with the source device (phone, PC, NAS device), or there is nothing in the playback queue to be played. Finally, a flashing orange light on your SONOS Roam could mean the speaker is overheating.

The status LED will flash orange and white during the update, after the reset, or to indicate some kind of error.

If the LED on your SONOS Roam is solid orange (not flashing), it could either mean that your speaker can’t complete the setup process for some reason or, if it’s already set up, it could mean that your speaker is overheating.

Note: Do not confuse the flashing orange with the flashing red light. The flashing red light indicates that your SONOS Roam was not set up within the 30min setup window, while the flashing red and white lights indicate that your SONOS failed to update.

SONOS Roam Battery LED Flashing Orange

This one is much easier to troubleshoot than the flashing orange status light. If the battery LED is flashing orange, it means the battery is low (below 15%). It just needs to be recharged. When you connect the charger, the LED will turn solid orange. It should disappear when the battery is full.

Note: Do not confuse the flashing orange battery LED with the flashing red battery LED. While the flashing orange LED indicates a relatively benign issue, the flashing red LED indicates that there’s something wrong with your speaker, and you need to contact SONOS customer support.
