How To Connect Two Bluetooth Speakers To Samsung Phone?

Bluetooth revolutionized the way we use our smartphones, speakers, and headphones. It’s a fantastic wireless technology with impressive capabilities. Among other things, Bluetooth 5.0 gave us the option to stream to two Bluetooth output devices (speakers or headphones) from one Bluetooth source (phone, tablet, laptop, Bluetooth transmitter). However, this option is still not available on all smartphones.

Samsung and Apple have been the leaders in the smartphone industry for almost two decades, so it was only natural for them to be the first ones to introduce this option. Samsung did it when Android OS 10 was released on September 3, 2019. Apple did it two weeks later when iOS 13 was released. Samsung named it Dual Audio, while Apple decided to use the name Audio Sharing

The difference between Samsung’s Dual Audio and Apple’s Audio Sharing is that the latter works only with Beats and Apple headphones/earbuds. Dual Audio, on the other hand, works with any Bluetooth speaker/headphone model, regardless of the brand.

So, Samsung smartphones were the first to support Dual Audio, making the connection between two Bluetooth speakers and one Samsung phone hassle-free. While this is the most convenient option, it’s not the only one.

In this article, I will list various ways to connect your Samsung phone to two Bluetooth speakers. They are not all equally convenient, but they all work. Let’s get started!

How To Connect Two Bluetooth Speakers To Samsung Phone

Key Takeaways

  • There are multiple ways to connect two Bluetooth speakers to your Samsung phone. I’ve come up with five, and they are all explained in this article
  • An increasing number of Samsung phones and tablets running on Android OS 10 and newer versions support the Dual Audio feature. This is the most convenient way of connecting two Bluetooth speakers to your Samsung phone. The limitation of this feature is that you can only connect two speakers – you can’t connect multiple speakers wirelessly to your Samsung phone.
  • If your Samsung phone doesn’t support Dual Audio or you don’t want to use it, you can buy a Bluetooth transmitter with dual audio support. These transmitters can send audio to two Bluetooth speakers or headphones simultaneously. A small inconvenience is that you have to connect your phone to the transmitter via AUX cable.
  • With a 3.5mm splitter cable with one male connector on one side and two male connectors on the other side, you can connect two speakers to your Samsung phone. This solution is very inconvenient (it’s not wireless at all), but it still works and saves your phone’s battery.
  • If your speaker has Chromecast built-in, you can use this wireless technology to send audio to two or multiple speakers from your Samsung Phone. The only problem is that only a few speakers have Chromecast built-in and none of those speakers are classic portable Bluetooth speakers – they are all smart speakers with Bluetooth connectivity
  • Finally, numerous Bluetooth speakers (especially those made by reputable brands) support some wireless daisy-chain technology. These technologies will allow you to connect multiple speakers (up to 100 or even 150) to your Samsung phone. Technically, when using these proprietary technologies, only one speaker connects to your Samsung phone, while the second speaker connects to the first one, the third speaker connects to the second, and so on. The limitation of this method is that you have to use compatible speakers.

Ways to Connect Your Samsung Phone to Two or Multiple Speakers Simultaneously

I will start with the most convenient option, and then move on to the less convenient ones.

Dual Audio

Samsung introduced Dual Audio back in 2019 when Android OS 10 was released. This feature allows you to send Bluetooth audio to two different Bluetooth output devices (speakers or headphones) at the same time. The best thing is that speakers don’t have to be of the same brand – you can connect any two Bluetooth speakers

The feature is not perfect and has some limitations, but it still works most of the time. I will address some issues later on, but let’s first see how to connect two Bluetooth speakers to your Samsung using Dual Audio

First, you need to pair the first speaker with your Samsung phone. Put your speaker in pairing mode, enable Bluetooth on your phone, look for the speaker under Available Devices, and tap on it. Confirm that you want to connect to it by tapping on Pair once again. In a few seconds, the first speaker will be connected to your phone.

Now, repeat the same process for the second speaker. Turn it on, put it in pairing mode, and connect it to your phone.

After connecting the second speaker, you should see both Bluetooth speakers under Paired Devices. The phone will display “Connected” for both.

After connecting the second speaker, you should see both Bluetooth speakers under Paired Devices. The phone will display “Connected” for both.

Now, you need to go back to the Home Screen and swipe from the top. You will see a Quick Settings Panel. One of the available options should be Media Output. Tap on it.

Select Media Output to open Samsung’s Dual Audio Menu on your phone.

Select Media Output to open Samsung’s Dual Audio Menu on your phone.

If you don’t see the Media Output option when you swipe the screen from the top, you have to enable it first (on most phones, this option is enabled by default). Tap on three dots in the top-right corner, tap on Quick Panel Layout, and make sure that the Device Control and Media Output Buttons option is set to Show Always.

If you don’t see the Media Output option, you will have to enable it.

If you don’t see the Media Output option, you will have to enable it.

You should see a menu with both speakers connected to your phone. There will be a checkmark next to the last connected speaker. You just need to select the first speaker, and they will start playing the same audio. From here, you can control the volume of each speaker individually.

Select the second speaker, and they should start playing together.

Select the second speaker, and they should start playing together.

You can also control the volume of both speakers together by pressing the volume buttons on your phone. Whenever you press the VOL UP or VOL DOWN button, you will see two VOLUME indicators for two connected speakers. By pressing the buttons, you will increase/decrease the volume on both speakers simultaneously. If you want to adjust the volume of each speaker individually, swipe up or down along the indicator.

You can adjust the volume levels for both speakers simultaneously, or you can control them individually. You can also use the volume controls on the speakers to adjust the volume.

Note 1: Depending on the speaker models and their specs (primarily their Bluetooth versions), sync issues are possible and will be more or less noticeable.
Note 2: If you want to connect more than 2 Bluetooth speakers to your Samsung, using Dual Audio is not an option. This feature limits the number of connected Bluetooth speakers to two.
Note 3: While most Android phones can connect to two Bluetooth speakers simultaneously, most of them can only send Bluetooth audio to one speaker at a time. Dual Audio is Samsung’s proprietary technology and is not available on other Android phones. Some smartphone manufacturers (like Realme and Huawei) have their own versions of Dual Audio.

Bluetooth Transmitter with Dual Audio Support

The other way of streaming Bluetooth audio from one Samsung phone to two Bluetooth speakers simultaneously is a bit inconvenient as it involves using an additional gadget called a Bluetooth transmitter.

To make this option work, you will have to connect your phone to the transmitter using an AUX cable (assuming your phone has a 3.5mm jack) and let the transmitter do the rest of the job.

Some Bluetooth transmitters can send audio to two speakers or headphones simultaneously.

Some Bluetooth transmitters can send audio to two speakers or headphones simultaneously.

Note that not all Bluetooth transmitters support audio transmission to two Bluetooth speakers or headphones at the same time. You will have to be careful when choosing the right one.

Furthermore, most Bluetooth transmitters are stationary devices – they have to be connected to the power source at all times. However, there are also a few decent portable options

The same limitations that apply to Samsung’s Dual Audio apply to Bluetooth transmitters that support Bluetooth streaming to two devices. You may occasionally experience syncing issues, and the maximum number of connected Bluetooth speakers is two – you can’t connect multiple Bluetooth speakers to a Samsung phone using a Bluetooth transmitter.

3.5mm Splitter Cable – 3.5mm (M) to 2 x 3.5mm (M)

This option is extremely inconvenient because everything has to be wired. The good thing about it is that it eliminates syncing issues. Also, you won’t be using Bluetooth at all, which means the battery on your phone (and your speakers) will last longer.

For this option to work, you will need Bluetooth speakers with 3.5mm inputs and a phone with a 3.5mm output (headphone jack). If your phone has a USB-C, you can use a USB-C to 3.5mm (F) audio adapter to make it work.

Finally, you will need a Y splitter cable with 3.5mm Male connectors (one 3.5mm (M) on one side and two 3.5mm (M) on the other side).

This is the splitter cable required for this setup.

This is the splitter cable required for this setup.

Depending on the configuration of the cable, you might be able to play two connected speakers in stereo. For this, you need two male connectors on the other side to be MONO LEFT and RIGHT.

The setup is super-simple. One end of the cable connects to your phone, and the other two to your speakers. The phone will automatically send audio through an AUX connection, but you may have to change the audio source on your speakers (from Bluetooth to AUX).

With a simple splitter cable, you can connect your Samsung phone to two Bluetooth speakers without even using Bluetooth. This will prolong your phone’s and speakers’ battery life, but it’s quite inconvenient.

Chromecast-Enabled Bluetooth Speakers

While Chromecast is a convenient technology that doesn’t require hard-wired connections between the speakers and source device, this is probably not the solution you’re looking for. Why? Because the majority of portable Bluetooth speakers (if not all) are not equipped with Chromecast. Those that have Chromecast built-in are actually smart home speakers with Bluetooth connectivity, and none of them are portable. So, if you don’t find this solution helpful, just skip this section

Chromecast requires Wi-Fi to function, not Bluetooth. If your speaker is Wi-Fi enabled and has Chromecast built-in, all you need to do is download and install the Google Home app. You will have to register your speaker through this app. After that, you can group it with multiple other speakers and play the same audio from your Samsung phone to all these connected speakers simultaneously.

Some of the speakers with Chromecast built-in are Sony’s SRS-RA3000 and SRS-RA5000, PHILIPS W6205, Google Home and Google Nest speakers, B&O Beosound and Beoplay speakers, KEF LSX II, etc

Bluetooth Speakers with Proprietary Daisy-Chain Technology

Most of today’s Bluetooth speakers, especially those made by reputable brands (JBL, UE, BOSE, HARMAN KARDON, SONY, etc.), feature some kind of technology that allows you to connect two or multiple compatible speakers to one phone and play the same audio on all speakers simultaneously.

Note that, in this scenario, your phone actually connects to only one speaker (the first speaker in the chain), while the second speaker connects to the first one, the third speaker connects to the second speaker, etc

Like Samsung’s Dual Audio, this option is wireless, which makes it very convenient, but it’s limited to speakers made by the same manufacturers. Often, even the speakers made by the same manufacturer will not work together if they belong to different generations. To be compatible, speakers have to support the same daisy-chain technology

So, if you want to connect two completely different Bluetooth speakers made by different manufacturers to your Samsung phone, Dual Audio is the best option. It’s also the only option that is fully wireless.

If you want to connect multiple Bluetooth speakers to your Samsung phone, Dual Audio is not an option. Using speakers’ wireless daisy-chain technology is the best option in this case, but it will only work if the speakers support the same technology.

Below, you can find instructions on how to connect the most popular Bluetooth speakers to your Samsung phone using different daisy-chain technologies.

Connect Two UE Speakers to a Samsung Phone

Not all UE speakers are compatible with each other. All BOOM and MEGABOOM speakers can be connected together. Also, HYPERBOOM speakers are compatible with BOOM and MEGABOOM speakers. You can connect up to 150 of these speakers together. When only two speakers are connected, you can choose between PARTY and STEREO modes.

UE WONDERBOOM and UE ROLL speakers, on the other hand, are not compatible with BOOM, MEGABOOM, and HYPERBOOM.

UE WONDERBOOM speakers can only be connected with other WONDERBOOM speakers. WONDERBOOM 1 and 2 speakers are compatible with each other, but WONDERBOOM 3 speakers can only be connected to other WONDERBOOM 3 speakers. Furthermore, you can only connect two WONDERBOOM speakers together.

When two WONDERBOOM 1 speakers are connected together, your only option is to play them in Party mode. When WONDERBOOM 1 and WONDERBOOM 2, your only option is, again, Party Mode.

When two WONDERBOOM 2 speakers are connected together, you can choose between PARTY and STEREO modes. The same goes for two WONDERBOOM 3 speakers.

Here’s how you can connect two or more BOOM/MEGABOOM/HYPERBOOM speakers to your Samsung phone using UE’s proprietary daisy-chain technology.

First, install the BOOM&MEGABOOM app

Pair your phone with the first UE speaker. If the speaker doesn’t go to pairing mode when you turn it on, you will have to press the Bluetooth button on the top until the Bluetooth LED starts flashing.

When you open the BOOM&MEGABOOM app on your phone, it will register the speaker you are connected to, but it will also find all compatible speakers in your vicinity. It will even find speakers that are not turned on – they just have to be charged. You will see other speakers at the bottom of the screen, under your connected speaker.

When you open the app, you should see the speaker you’re connected to, as well as all the speakers in your vicinity.

When you open the app, you should see the speaker you’re connected to, as well as all the speakers in your vicinity.

From here, all you have to do is drag the speaker you want connected with the first one up. The second speaker will turn on and connect automatically to the first one. Once they are connected, you can choose between two modes – DOUBLE and STEREO. If you connect multiple speakers together, the only available option will be PARTY-UP.

Dragging the speaker from the Speakers Found list will atomically connect it to the first speaker.

Connect Two Sony Speakers to a Samsung Phone

Sony is one of those manufacturers that use different daisy-chain technologies for different speaker generations. The latest SONY speakers use PartyConnect, while older speakers use Wireless Party Chain. The two are not compatible. So, when trying to connect two SONY speakers to your Samsung phone using SONY’s wireless daisy chain technology, you have to check whether the two speakers are compatible or not.

All speakers that supported Wireless Party Chain had a dedicated daisy-chain button that allowed you to connect two speakers together without the app – you just had to press the button. The same applies to older PartyConnect speakers.

However, the latest SONY PartyConnect speakers don’t have a dedicated PartyConnect button, meaning you have to use the Sony Music Center app to connect two or multiple speakers together.

First, you will need to connect one speaker to your phone.

Then, open the app and give it a few seconds to recognize your speaker. If it doesn’t find it, you may have to register it manually through the app.

Once the speaker appears on the home page, tap on Group with other speakers.

Depending on the number of speakers you want to connect (two or multiple), select Party Connect or Stereo Pair.

A list of available speakers should appear on the next screen. You can select the ones you want to connect and tap Next. On the next screen, confirm your choice by tapping OK.

Older Sony speakers, those with Wireless Party Chain support, were somewhat easier to set up since you didn’t have to use the app to connect them together. You just had to connect one speaker to your phone and then press the dedicated daisy-chain button on that speaker until you hear a beep. Then, you would have to do the same thing with the other speaker while the speaker is in pairing mode, and you’re good to go.

Connect Two JBL Speakers to a Samsung Phone

JBL, like Sony, has more than one daisy-chain technology, meaning not all JBL speakers are compatible, and you can’t connect just any two JBL speakers together

There are three different JBL daisy-chain technologies supported by three different generations of JBL speakers – CONNECT, CONNECT+, and PARTYBOOST

All JBL speakers you want to connect together have to support the same technology.

Connect Two Soundcore Speakers to a Samsung Phone

Soundcore is one of my favorite budget brands. Their speakers may not be on par with JBL, Harman Kardon, Sony, or Bose, but they do offer pretty good performance for the price.

Not all Soundcore speakers support daisy-chaining, but those that do feature Soundcore’s PartyCast daisy-chain technology. Like Sony, Soundcore has two versions – 1.0 and 2.0

Unlike Bluetooth speakers made by other manufacturers, all Soundcore speakers featuring either version of PartyCast are compatible and can be connected together

Soundcore PartyCast Speakers (source – Soundcore)

PartyCast 2.0 is a better and improved version of PartyCast 1.0. PartyCast 1.0 supports only Party mode, while PartyCast 2.0 speakers support both – Stereo and Party modes. Also, PartyCast 2.0 requires just a single press of a button, so the setup is easier. Furthermore, PartyCast 2.0 can transmit over greater distances and provides lower latency.

Connect Two Bose Speakers to a Samsung Phone

Pairing two Bose speakers together is not a difficult task, and doesn’t even require the app (in this case, the Bose Connect app). You just need to press the right buttons to pair two speakers together. Also, you can shift between STEREO and PARTY modes using the buttons – no app is needed (although it’s convenient to have it installed).

Here’s how to connect two Bose speakers to a Samsung phone:

The first step is always the same – pair one speaker with your phone. This will be your primary speaker.

The second speaker should be turned on and in pairing mode. It shouldn’t be connected to any device.

On the primary speaker, the one connected to your Samsung phone, press the VOL UP and Bluetooth buttons until you hear a voice prompt. The primary speaker is in daisy-chain mode. You just need to connect the other speaker to the first one.

Pressing Bluetooth and VOL UP buttons puts the first Bose speaker in pairing mode.

Connect Two Harman Kardon Speakers to a Samsung Phone

Even though Harman Kardon is a parent company of JBL, Harman Kardon speakers are not as easy when it comes to daisy-chaining. The reason is simple – there’s no clear information on which daisy-chain technologies are used by different Harman Kardon speakers. So, you don’t know what speakers are compatible until you try connecting them together.

Some Harman Kardon speakers feature the so-called HK Connect+ (like Onyx Studio 4), which is the same daisy-chain technology found on JBL Connect+ speakers. It also works the same way. Recognizing speakers featuring Connect+ is easy – they have a dedicated Connect+ button.

Pairing two or multiple HK Onyx Studio 4 works the same way as connecting multiple JBL Connect+ speakers. You pair the first speaker with your Samsung phone, turn on the second speaker and put it in pairing mode, press the Connect+ on the first speaker, and then press the Connect+ button on the second speaker.

Theoretically, it should be possible to connect JBL Connect+ speakers with Harman Kardon Connect+ speakers. For example, you could pair together JBL Flip 4 and Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 4 since they feature the same Connect+ daisy-chain technology.

Pairing Onyx Studio 4 and JBL Flip 4 Together

How To Connect Onyx Studio 4 to Flip 4 Using JBL Connect+

For other Harman Kardon Bluetooth speakers, it’s only safe to assume that you can pair two same models together. For example, Onyx Studio 5 with another Onyx Studio 5, HK Go+ with another Go+, etc. Also, based on the information given in user manuals, I would assume that you can only pair two Harman Kardon speakers together (not multiple).

The process of pairing two Bluetooth speakers together is the same for most Harman Kardon speakers.

Turn on one of the speakers and pair it with your phone. Turn on the second speaker and don’t connect it to anything – it should be in pairing mode.

On the first speaker, locate the Bluetooth button and press it for 5 seconds. The LED should start blinking white, and you should hear a tone.

Do the same thing with the other speaker – press the Bluetooth button for 5 seconds.

In a few seconds, two speakers should be synced together. They will play in PARTY mode. Harman Kardon calls it DUAL MONO mode.
