Jabra Elite 75t Earbuds One Side Not Working (Left/Right)

For a pair of affordable true wireless earbuds, Jabra Elite 75t buds offer an amazing set of features and overall performance. They feature Bluetooth 5.0 and provide a great range, as well as a stable fit. The buds are IP55-certified, which makes them perfect for workouts and outdoor activities. Furthermore, the sound output and call quality are quite great. There’s a learning curve when it comes to mastering controls, but once you get used to them, controlling your earbuds is a breeze.

Unfortunately, Jabra Elite 75t, like many other earbuds, have some common flaws. A number of Jabra Elite 75t earbud users experienced the same issue with these earbuds – at some point, one of Jabra Elite 75t earbuds, either left or right, simply stops working. It usually happens with older earbuds but it could also happen with brand-new ones.

In this guide, I will try to list all the possible reasons why one side of your Jabra Elite 75t earbuds is not working and offer you troubleshooting tips that could fix your faulty Jabra earbud.

Jabra Elite 75t Earbuds One Side Not Working (Left/Right)

Key Takeaways

  • Don’t start with aggressive and intrusive fixes – there’s no need to take the earbuds apart, at least not immediately. Start with basic troubleshooting steps – restart your earbuds, check if they are fully charged, restart your connection, check for updates, and make sure you are not too far away from your phone.
  • Resetting the earbuds could fix minor firmware bugs and repair your faulty Jabra Elite 75t earbud. Take both buds out and press and hold the buttons on them simultaneously for about 10-15 seconds. Release the buttons when the LEDs flash purple.
  • If these quick fixes don’t help you could try to “reset” your charging case – take the earbuds out, leave the lid open, and charge it for three hours. Then, disconnect the case, and put the earbuds back in, close the lid, and leave them charging for another 3 hours. Take them out and see if it helps.
  • Disabling the MySound feature within the Jabra Sound+ App helped some users get rid of the issue and fix the faulty earbud.
  • If your faulty earbud is not charging when you put it in the case, you could try cleaning the charging contacts.
  • If one Jabra earbud is quieter than the other, try cleaning the earbuds and removing excess earwax and gunk build-up. Also, check the audio balance on your phone.
  • If none of my tips help, it’s time to contact Jabra customer support and ask for their help.

The Earbud Might Be Turned OFF – Turn It ON manually

Restarting is the first thing we try whenever an electronic device shows signs of malfunction. Why would your earbuds be any different?

You have two options. The first one is easy – put both earbuds inside the case and close the lid. Waif for a few seconds or up to a minute. Open the lid and take the earbuds out.

The second option includes turning your earbuds off and then on manually. Press the buttons on both buds simultaneously to turn them off – the LEDs on them will flash red shortly. Then, press the buttons on both buds simultaneously for 1 second – the LEDs should flash green shortly.

If you don't want to put them back in the case, you can turn Jabra Elite 75t earbuds off and on manually.

Check If the Earbud Has Enough Charge

No earbud can work if it doesn’t have enough charge. The earbuds will not even turn on if they are not charged – there will be no LED lights.

So, if you haven’t charged your earbuds for some time, put them inside the case, connect the case to the power source, and leave them charging.

Make sure your Jabra earbuds are charged before using them.

Make sure your Jabra earbuds are charged before using them.

Note: Jabra recommends that you don’t store your earbuds for more than 3 months without charging them. The battery will degrade over time. Also, to charge the case, you shouldn’t use a charger with a higher voltage than the recommended 5V/1A.

If the Earbud Won’t Charge, Clean the Charging Contacts

In case you don’t see the earbud’s LED blink shortly when you put the earbud inside the case, your earbud is having problems charging. That could mean the earbud’s battery (or some other part) is dead, but it could also mean the charging contacts are dirty or corroded

So, let’s not assume that your earbuds are dead. Let’s try to clean the contacts and see if that changes anything. You need to clean the contacts on your earbuds and inside the case.

For starters, try using a cotton swab or lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol. If that’s not enough, try cleaning the contacts with a toothbrush. Finally, if the contacts are corroded, you could even try using sandpaper, but be careful – you don’t want to damage the earbuds.

Cleaning the contacts could resolve charging issues.

While cleaning the earbuds, make sure the contacts inside the case are not stuck under the case cover. Also, make sure the magnets inside the earbud slots are still strong enough to hold the earbuds in place – if there’s no firm contact between the charging pins on the case and those on the earbuds, they will not charge.

Unpair the Earbuds and Pair Them Again

This is another simple fix – unpair your Jabra earbuds from the phone, forget the earbuds from the list of saved devices, and repeat the pairing process afresh. Ideally, you should forget the earbuds from every device previously connected to the earbuds (phones, tablets, laptops, etc.).

So, go to your phone’s Bluetooth settings, find Jabra Elite 75t earbuds, and tap on the info icon (iPhones) or the Settings gear (Android phones) next to your earbud’s name.

Now that your earbuds are removed from your phone’s list of saved devices, put them back in the case, close the case, wait for a few seconds, open it, and take the earbuds out.

Assuming there are no other Bluetooth devices in your proximity (devices that were previously paired with your earbuds), the earbuds should go to pairing mode. The LED on the right earbud should flash blue.

If they don’t go to pairing mode, you can put your Jabra earbuds in pairing mode manually. Just press the buttons on both earbuds simultaneously until the right one starts flashing blue.

When you refresh the list of available Bluetooth devices on your phone, Jabra Elite 75t should appear in the list of available devices. Tap on it, and you will be paired. On Android phones, you may get a popup message asking you to confirm you want to pair with Elite 75t. Just tap on Pair.

Reset the Case

I found this fix on Redditone user who had the same problem got this tip from Jabra’s customer support. Here’s what you need to do:

Take the earbuds from the case and store them somewhere. Connect a USB cable to the charging case and use a 5V wall charger to charge it for 3 hours. Don’t close the lid while charging.

After that, disconnect the charger, put the earbuds back in the case, close the lid, and leave them charging for another 3 hours.

Finally, take your earbuds out and see if they work. If not, let’s try a few other things.

Reset Your Jabra Elite 75t Earbuds

Resetting your Jabra earbuds will erase pairing information about all devices previously paired with your earbuds, as well as all custom settings that might be interfering with your earbuds and preventing one of your earbuds from working properly.

To reset Jabra Elite 75t, take both buds and press the buttons on them simultaneously for 10-15 seconds. The LED lights will flash blue, then red, but you should keep holding the buttons until the LEDs flash pink/purple

Update Jabra Elite 75t Earbuds

An update, just like a reset, could fix minor firmware bugs that might be preventing your earbud from working properly. To update your earbuds, you need to install the Jabra Sound+ app onto your phone

If you are using the app for the first time, you will have to register your earbuds from within the app. After the earbuds are registered, you should get a notification when there’s an update available.

The Jabra Sound+ app will send push notifications when there’s an update available.

Note: During the update, the earbuds should be inside the case. The LED on the back of the case will blink pink/purple during the update.

Update Voice Guidance Language

This is another solution provided by Jabra support on Reddit. Like the previous fix, it requires the app. This time, you won’t be updating the whole firmware – you only have to update your Voice Guidance Language. I honestly have no idea why or how this fix works, but apparently, some users managed to fix their faulty earbuds by updating the Voice Guidance Language.

You will have to open the app, tap on the Settings gear, go to Personalize Your Headset, tap on Voice Guidance, select English (or whatever language you want), and finally tap on Update Now.

Note: Before updating your Voice Guidance Language, make sure your earbuds are at least 50% charged.

If One Earbud Is Quieter Than the Other, the Driver Might Be Clogged

If you don’t clean your Jabra earbuds regularly, earwax and gunk will build up and eventually clog those tiny holes where the sound comes from. Consequently, this will make your earbuds (or just one) much quieter, and it might make you think that one of your earbuds is not working (or both).

Remove the tips and wash them. Then, use a cotton swab and isopropyl alcohol to clean the earbuds. If there’s gunk inside the hole where the driver is located, use something sharp (like a paperclip or needle) to remove as much gunk as you can. Be careful when doing this – you don’t want to damage the driver.

Check the Audio Balance on Your Phone

If one earbud is still not as loud as the other one, you should check the Audio Balance feature on your device. Most modern phones (both iPhones and Android) have this feature hidden somewhere in the Settings.

On iPhones, you can find it by following this path: Settings – Accessibility Settings – Audio/Visual – Audio Balance.

On Android devices, you can find it in Hearing Enhancement Settings

If the Audio Balance slider is not in the center, one earbud will be louder than the other. Center it, and your problem will be solved.

Disable MySound Within the Jabra Sound+ App

This is another solution I found online. I have no idea why it works, but it definitely helped some users.

You just have to open the app, go to Settings, tap on Personalize Your Headset, open My Sound, and disable this option

Check the Bluetooth Range

This one is a bit too obvious, but I still have to mention it. If the distance between your earbuds and the phone is too large, the earbuds (both or just one will start to cut out, and it might make you think the earbud is broken.

While Jabra Elite 75t earbuds feature Bluetooth 5.0 and provide much greater range than older Bluetooth earbuds, I would still suggest staying within the traditional Bluetooth range of 33ft, or even less if there are walls and other objects between the earbuds and your phone.

If you move too far away, the audio will start to cut out or the earbuds might stop playing music.

What If You Are Dealing with a Dead Earbud?

If nothing helps, you may have to accept the fact that your earbud is dead. You might be dealing with a dead battery, dead PCB, or dead speaker driver.

Before you give up, try contacting Jabra support and asking for their help. If your earbuds are new, you will probably get a replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Question: Why is one of my Jabra earbuds not working?
  • Answer: As discussed in this article, several reasons could cause one of your Jabra earbuds to stop working. Some issues can be solved quickly, while others require more time. Some can’t even be solved. The worst-case scenario is a dead earbud. But don’t jump to conclusions!
  • First, try to restart your earbuds, restart the connection, keep the earbuds close to your phone, update your Jabra earbuds, update the Voice Guidance Language, reset the case, and reset the earbuds.
  • If your earbud won’t turn on, check if it has enough charge. Also, check if the earbud can be charged. Sometimes, dirty and corroded charging contacts might prevent your earbuds from charging.
  • Furthermore, if one earbud is quieter or the sound doesn’t come out of one of the earbuds, clean the earbuds and check the audio balance.
  • Question: How do I reset my left Jabra Elite 75t earbud?
  • Answer: You can’t reset just one – you can only reset both Jabra Elite 75t earbuds. To do so, press the buttons on both earbuds for 10-15 seconds until the LEDs on the earbuds (or just the left earbud) flash purple
  • Question: Why is my left Jabra earbud not charging?
  • Answer: It could be because of a minor glitch that can be fixed by restarting your earbuds (turning them off and then on) or resetting them. You could also try updating the earbuds to rule out firmware bugs.
  • Charging issues can also be caused by dirty and corroded charging contacts/pins – clean them and see if that helps. Also, if the magnets inside the case become weak, the earbuds won’t stay in place. Consequently, the contact between the charging pins inside the case and those on the earbuds will not be firm enough, and the earbuds won’t charge.
  • Question: How do you turn on the left earbud on a Jabra?
  • Answer: Pressing and holding the button on Jabra Elite 75t earbuds for 1 second will turn the earbuds on. The procedure might be different for other Jabra earbuds.
  • Question: Why does my Jabra left earbud keep disconnecting?
  • Answer: It could be because you are exceeding the Bluetooth range of your earbuds. Stay close to your phone to rule out Bluetooth range issues.
  • If it’s not a Bluetooth range issue, it could be some kind of firmware bug that could be fixed by restarting your earbuds, updating them, or resetting them.

In Conclusion

Jabra Elite 75t earbuds one side not working is one of the most common issues people have with Jabra earbuds. Unfortunately, finding the culprit and fixing the issue is not an easy task.
