How To Charge Skullcandy Earbuds? (Wireless & Wired Charging)

Skullcandy earbuds are one of my favorite brands of earbuds. They have stellar audio quality and an artistic look that perfectly fits my personality.

So recently purchased the Skullcandy Push Active earbuds and tested them before I could fully charge them. Once the battery ran out, I had trouble charging them since I did not know what to look out for to know that they were charging

Luckily the user guide was beneficial, but it did not provide all the necessary information on charging the earbuds. Hence this article will help you learn how to properly charge your earbuds and what to do if they refuse to charge.

How To Charge Skullcandy Earbuds

Key Takeaways

  • Ensure you charge the earbuds and the case after you purchase them before using them.
  • If you are charging the earbuds for the first time, remove the white stickers on the earbuds’ charging pins.
  • The earbuds will automatically start charging when correctly placed in the charging case.
  • Charge the earbud’s case using the USB cable it came with.
  • Connect the cable to a charger or USB port and the other end to the charging case.
  • You will know the case is charging when the LED on the case starts blinking red.
  • You will know the earbuds are charging when the LED on the buds lights red once the earbuds are in the charging case.
  • Once the buds are fully charged, the LED will light green or go off, depending on the model of the earbuds.
  • You can charge the case and the earbuds simultaneously. You can even charge the case without the earbuds.
  • Unfortunately, some Skullcandy earbuds do not have a fast charge feature that allows you to charge for ten minutes and enjoy one-hour use.
  • How fast the case charges will depend on the method of charging and the power source you use. Wireless charging is slow compared to wired charging.

Charging the Skullcandy Earbuds

You will notice stickers on the golden charging points when using the earbuds for the first time. These stickers are meant to protect the charging points before the earbuds get to the final user.

Therefore, before charging the buds, remove the stickers and confirm that no dirt is left on the charging points.

Next, place the earbuds in the charging case, ensuring the right earbud goes into the right slot and the left one goes into the left slot in the charging case. Interchanging the earbuds by putting the left bud in the right slot and the right bud in the left slot will prevent the earbuds from charging.

Once the earbuds are in the case, you should see their LEDs light solid red. That is an indication that the buds are charging.

Make sure the LEDs on the earbuds are solid red – that indicates the earbuds are charging.

Skullcandy recommends charging the buds for at least thirty minutes before using them for the first time.

If the LEDs on the earbuds do not light up, it means there is a problem, and you should check the “Why Are My Earbuds Not Charging” section in this article.

If the earbud’s LEDs light up, the buds are correctly placed, and you can charge the earbud’s case.

Charging the Skullcandy Case

There are two ways of charging the earbud’s case depending on the model of the bud. Some models support wireless and wired charging, while others only support wired charging.

Therefore, carefully read the earbuds user manual to determine if your model supports wireless charging.

Then follow the instructions below depending on your preferred method of charging.

Using Wireless Charging

To use wireless charging with your Skullcandy earbuds, you must first confirm if the earbuds’ case supports the feature. Skullcandy Indy ANC, Grind Fuel, and Indy Fuel are some models that support wireless charging.

The next thing you need is a wireless charging pad, and if you do not have one, you can get it from the Skullcandy online store.

Once you have the pad, connect it to a power outlet and check that the LED glows, if it has one.

Then put the earbuds in the case and close it.

Next, place the case on the charging pad, with the backside touching the pad.

Some models, like the Indy ANC, have a lightning bolt label on the back showing precisely where the charging pad should touch the case.

Once the case is correctly placed on the charging pad, the LEDs (fuel gauge) will light up to show that the case is charging.

The LEDs will turn off once the case is fully charged.

Note that wireless charging is slower than wired charging, and you should read the user manual of the charging pad before using it.

Using Wired Charging

Wired charging involves a wire that connects the case to a power source, unlike wireless charging, where the case needs to be in contact with the charging pad.

In wired charging, you need a USB cable, power plug, power source (wall outlet, power bank, or any device with a USB port), and the earbud’s case.

Then connect the USB cable to the power plug or a device with a USB port turned on.

If you are using a power plug, connect it to a power outlet.

Finally, connect the other end of the USB cable to the charging port on the earbuds charging case.

Depending on the earbud’s model, you should see the LEDs on the case light red or white.

Leave the earbuds charging until they are fully charged.

Note that the earbuds will likely charge faster if you use a power plug compared to when you use a device that has a USB port, like a laptop.

Can I Charge the Case Without the Earbuds?

The earbuds charging/travel case acts as a power bank for the earbuds. Therefore, you can charge it separately while using the earbuds, and you will not have any problems.

Once the case is fully charged, you can unplug it and charge the buds by placing them in it.

How Do I Know My Skullcandy Earbuds Are Fully Charged?

When charging the earbuds in the case, the LEDs on the buds light solid red.

Once the buds are fully charged, the LEDs will either power off or turn green, depending on the model of your Skullcandy earbuds.

You can tell the battery level of the earbuds by connecting them to your phone

If you have the Skullcandy app, you can open it, and it will have your earbud’s battery information. The app is the best way to see the bud’s battery percentage.

Alternatively, if you have an iPhone, you can check the earbud’s battery percentage by going to the shortcut screen while the buds are connected to your phone.

Android users can also go to the Bluetooth settings and select the earbuds from the connected devices list to check the earbuds’ battery percentage.

How Do I Tell the Battery Percentage of the Charging Case?

This depends on the model of the earbuds; however, regardless of the model, you can get the LED on the case to light up by opening the case. Alternatively, press the button if the case has a button, and the LED will light up.

For instance, if you have a case with four LEDs on the front, each LED represents a 25% battery charge. So, if two LEDs are on, it means the case is at fifty percent, and if three are on, it means seventy-five percent, and so on.

Some Skullcandy earbuds have a charging case with four battery LEDs, each indicating 25%.

If the case has only one LED like that of the Jib True Wireless earbuds, the rate at which the LED blinks tells you what percentage the case is at

If the LED blinks once, the battery is below twenty-five percent, and you should recharge.

Two blinks mean the battery is between twenty-five and seventy-five percent, while three flashes indicate the battery is above seventy-five percent.

Always check the user guide to know how to check the case’s battery percentage, as the methods vary depending on the earbuds’ model.

Why Are My Earbuds Not Charging?
