  • Once powered on, the buds will first connect to each other before going into pairing mode.

Enable Pairing Mode on the Skullcandy Earbuds

Skullcandy has various earbuds, and they follow different pairing procedures. Therefore, you must follow the procedure that applies to your earbud model. While explaining the pairing process for different models, I will also look at other related features like LED behavior to help you understand what stage of the pairing process you are in.

Here is how to enable pairing mode on different Skullcandy wireless earbuds.

If the buds are new and have never been paired to a source device or have just been reset, place them in the case and ensure the LEDs on each earbud glow red. This powers them off.

Then take them out of the case to power them on.

You can also manually turn them off by pressing the main button on each earbud for six seconds. While they are off, pressing the main button for four seconds will turn them on.

POWER OFF – press the buttons for 6 secondsPOWER ON – press the buttons for 4 seconds

POWER OFF – press the buttons for 6 seconds / POWER ON – press the buttons for 4 seconds

Once powered on, the earbuds will connect to each other, and you will know this is happening when you see the LEDs on both earbuds flash blue.

Once the buds have paired, they will play a tone, and only the left earbud will flash red and blue to show it is in pairing mode

Once the buds are in pairing mode, you can continue the pairing process on the source device. Once the pairing is successful, the buds will play a ‘connected’ audio prompt.

These buds support solo mode meaning you can use only one of them. To do this, pair them using the above steps, and once they are paired to each other and your source device, put the bud you do not want to use into the case

If you want to return to using both buds, remove the other bud from the case, and it will automatically connect to the other one.

When powered on, the buds will connect to each other first before going into pairing mode hence why they flash blue. You will know they are in pairing mode when the LED on the left bud flashes red and blue.

If the buds connect to a device and you want to manually enable paring mode, power them off, then hold the touchpad for six seconds.

The buds will power on and automatically go into pairing mode. Disable Bluetooth on nearby devices you do not want to connect to the buds.

These steps also work for the Indy ANC earbuds.

You can also manually power on/off one or both buds by tapping the touchpad twice and then holding it for one second, i.e., tap 2x, then hold one second.

The buds will notify you of the battery level and are ready to pair through audio prompts. You will also see them flash red and blue as a sign they are in pairing mode.

Tap and hold the touchpad for three seconds to force these buds into pairing mode. You will hear a ‘ready to pair’ audio prompt.

If you hold the touchpad on either bud for three seconds while they are paired to a device, the buds will go into pairing mode, allowing you to connect a second device, i.e., multipoint connectivity.

Then only the left earbud will blink blue and red to show they are in pairing mode

The buds will then automatically connect to the device they last connected to, if any.

Conclusion

Most Skullcandy earbuds support solo mode, where you can use only one bud and keep the other in the case. The best part is that you do not have to reconnect the buds manually; you take the earbud out, and it will automatically pair with the active one.

If that doesn’t work, you can reset both buds, put them in the case for six to ten seconds, and take them out, and they will connect.

Since there are so many models, it is impossible to cover all of them, but you can always find your model’s user manual on the Skullcandy support website.
